Hi April... I found out something interesting when saving my Kindle books as you suggested. I felt like I was missing some books from the Contents list. I realized that old devices had their own list of contents. And since I don't put all of my titles on every new device, I looked at old devices and found the missing titles. So, if you are like me and have multiple Kindles in your life, you need to check each one to ensure you have all of your books.
Can you say, which switch readers could make away from Amazon that authors would benefit the most? I’ve always read on the kindle app but I’m wondering if it isn’t time to change that.
Thank you very much for the warning. I was horrified to discover just how many Kindle books I had on Amazon. I decided to only download the ebooks that were most likely to attract the attention of the book burners and leave the more inoffensive ones behind. Doing that still gave me a 500 Mb file full of ebooks, - so I don't know how big it would have been if I'd downloaded the lot. These days if I see a book on Amazon I'd like to buy I'll go and check if it's on KOBO and if it is I'll buy it there. I would prefer to cut out Amazon altogether though.
It took me hours, but 1600 ebooks were successfully downloaded from my Kindle library. I have told all of my bookish friends about this. I will be canceling my KU subscription and be using Kobo from now on.
